Tripper is a very pretty, and super cute little guy who loves people of all ages, and thrives on attention and sweet talk. He is unusually smart and a very quick learner. He’s playful, loves his stuffed animal toys, and likes to sit on the couch with you or snuggle on your lap, even though he’s a bit bigger than your average lap dog. He has good eating manners, understands commands like “wait”, and “all right,” and many more. He’s housebroken, sleeps soundly in his own bed, walks well on a leash, and mostly comes when he’s called. When he looks at you with his big brown soulful eyes and cocks his head to one side, it’s sure to melt your heart. With all these people skills, however, he isn’t needy or clingy, he doesn’t need to be under your feet all day, doesn’t have separation anxiety, rides well in the car, and can be left there for short periods without misbehaving. He was a little naughty at times when I first got him two years ago, but he’s long outgrown that. He is a good watch dog, and will let you know if there’s something or someone outside you should know about.

Tripper needs to be in a household where there are no other dogs, as he is very afraid of them. Cats? Probably not. He is healthy, has a good digestive system, and doesn’t require daily walks, although he enjoys them. A secure yard is very important, because he is curious, and will chase after squirrels and cats, and be off in a flash. He is on medication for anxiety (he had a tough life before I got him) and will probably need that forever. Because he has a long silky coat, he should have periodic grooming. He enjoys being regularly brushed and combed. He’s good with groomers, doesn’t mind going to the vet, and assumes everyone is going to like him. They usually do!

Tripper is one of the best dogs I have ever had and I am very, very sad to have to give him up, but I have no choice. I want him to live with a person or a family that will love him as much as I do, and will keep him happy and safe.
